Little Vumbura, a jewel tucked into the northern reaches of the Okavango Delta, is a prime example of a camp that lends itself exquisitely to a wilderness and wellness experience.
Imagine stepping away for a few long moments and landing on a small, private island completely surrounded by untamed wilderness. The place and space are the perfect remedy to inspire your re-connection. Waking to the wide expanses of the Okavango Delta stretching in all directions, life throngs around you and re-awakens life within you. In the crisp morning air you climb off of the viewing deck and into a private boat or, for the more adventurous option, step down into a mokoro and your yoga practice begins as you breathingly fall in line with the natural rhythm of the morning. Paddling through reed and lily-lined canals, the only traffic you meet is the plethora of tiny frogs, birds and hippo, the wild inhabitants that created these natural thoroughfares. Just minutes later you step onto your very own private island and into the heart of your practice.
Why It’s a Wild Again Favourite
Little Vumbura is an intimate six-roomed tented camp shaded by the canopy of an ancient forest. Each well-appointed tent has en-suite facilities and a deck with incredible vistas. A plunge pool and reading area overlook the floodplains while a star deck is reached by a bridge from the dining area.
In addition to helping to conserve the area, Little Vumbura is part of a community participation plan that brings the benefits of ecotourism to the communities that live around the Okavango Delta. As you give to yourself you give back to the land and communities too.
It is the best place to see sable and wild dogs in the Delta.
